The Song Awakens
What does a tree have to do with a woman’s heartbreak? Read the book and find out! Book One of The Cracked Quartet series by my friend and fellow member of the Heartland Christian Writers group is due to be launched on October 8, 2025. The tamarind tree in the center of her cover provides a deep, sentimental experience for Stefania, the main character in The Song Awakens. A well-written story about redemption and friendships that endure.
Following her missionary husband’s death, Stefania Patterson, has returned to America and to her best friends from college, affectionately dubbed The Cracked Quartet. Thirteen years earlier, Stefania and Joe left their three children with relatives to protect them from disease and unrest in central Africa. At least, that’s what she told everyone. However, Stefania lives with the guilt of one unguarded moment and cannot forgive herself, which leaves her sleepwalking through life. She’s convinced the loss of her children is God’s punishment. Even though she doesn’t deserve it, she longs to reconnect with Colin, Nathan, and Lila. It may be an impossible mission, especially when it comes to her daughter who has made it clear Stefania is not welcome in her life. With the help of the Cracked Quartet’s “Operation Reconciliation,” Stefania gathers courage to reach out to her adult children. But she’ll have to come clean about her past or she’ll never be free of its burden.

Life On Turkeyneck Hill
If you enjoy inspirational stories that will make you chuckle, this nostalgic book, set in the Midwest, is for you. Journey with Phyllis Bex as she recounts tales of growing up on a farm with numerous siblings and a multitude of animals. When you finish this book, there are two more in the series which are just as entertaining: More Tales From Turkeyneck Hill, and Turkeyneck Hill And Beyond. So, grab a glass of sweet tea, put your feet up, and be transported back to an era when life was simpler and moved more slowly.

Displaced
Sue Stewart Ade has woven a true story of resilience into an engrossing historical fiction novel that follows a Lithuanian family during the 1940s. Attempting to escape the Soviet invasion of their country, they relocate to Germany prior to the Nazi regime, where even worse hardship and terror awaits. You will cry, smile, and discover miracles that bring hope within the turmoil of war.

Every Bend in the River
The author has skillfully blended her ancestry and complex characters into an intriguing historical fiction tale. Her lyrical prose and underlying love stories help soften the harsh realities of Virginia and South Carolina’s backcountry during the mid to late 1700s. This book will inspire and touch your heart. Also, don’t miss Emerson’s debut novel: “What the Silent Say”. This highly emotional historical fiction novel was also inspired by a true family story set during WWII. It follows a young wife, husband, and his brother through sacrifice, courage, and the healing power of love.
